Anxiousness.

Excitement.

Your nerves take over.

This isn’t new, but every time it’s always the same.

The hum of energy pulses around you.

Jumping from one person to the next.

Building until the start.

The countdown…

10…9…8…

Breathe in.

7…6…5…4…

Breathe out.

3…2…1…

Go.

A rush.

The crowd surges forward.

Laughter, smiles, and shuffling feet.

Your breath catches in the air.

Deep and continuous.

Muscles working in unison.

Pushing you forward.

Exertion starts to take hold.

Your body is tired and fatigued.

Remember.

Keep moving.

You can do this.

Your body can perform.

Your mind is the key.

Push.

Past your breaking point.

Propel yourself toward the goal.

Pain is ignored.

It is only temporary.

Closer with each step.

Just a little bit further.

Almost done.

Limits are tested.

You pull from deep within.

Stepping over the finish line.

A wave washes over you.

Relief that you’re done.

Pride in the accomplishment.

Take it all in.

Savor it. Remember it. Hold on to it.

Because before you know it, it’ll be time once again…

…to push.
